Since 2021, the Ostrobothnia welfare area in Finland and Region Västerbotten in Sweden have collaborated on the recruitment of general practice doctors (AT doctors). After a two-week introductory training, clinical placements begin at Vasa Central Hospital and health care centers in Vasa or surrounding municipalities. Some parts of the introduction are conducted digitally together with AT doctors in Umeå, while other practical components are done in Vasa. The AT period includes mandatory theoretical and practical training components carried out in collaboration with the AT organization in Umeå. Some parts of the training components are conducted digitally, while others require physical presence in Vasa.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As an AT doctor with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel safe. You will participate in everyday healthcare, and the work is carried out under the personal supervision of specialist doctors.
The job responsibilities are based on the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations on general practice for doctors (AT).
QUALIFICATIONS
A medical degree by the time of employment is a requirement. Other merits may include other relevant education, previous work experience, any specialization, and local anchoring. Special consideration is given to personal qualities and collaboration skills.
Applicants with foreign education must have permission from the National Board of Health and Welfare to do AT in Sweden and have good knowledge of the Swedish language, corresponding to level C1. The National Board of Health and Welfare's requirement for knowledge of legislation must be approved at the time of application. See the National Board of Health and Welfare's website socialstyrelsen.se. The applicant must have a good ability to communicate with both staff and patients in Swedish and Finnish.
It is an advantage if you can speak Finnish, and the job interview is usually conducted in both Finnish and Swedish, but bilingualism is not a requirement.
